Handguard was as heavy as the stock barrel nut, so i removed like 11 ozs from the front of the gun. Stock is very adjustable and feels great against the shoulder. I have the 17" Faxon Firearms carbon fiber hand guard with a V7 titanium barrel nut. I wish I had gone with the Smoke hand guard at a custom length. The two nut clamp on the Faxon just gets in the way of a mag well grip, but it's just nitpicking. I have the Smoke stock with the closed shoulder, cheek rest, buttpad upgrade, in rifle length.That barrel nut you turned down, tap 4 screw holes in a cross pattern. Repeat this on the carbon fiber tube. Install barrel nut, gas tube, and gas block. Then put the tube on the barrel nut and line up the barrel nut holes to the tube holes and use appropriate sized screws to secure the tube to the nut.Cons: Slightly more expensive, it's composite and delamination might be an issue in the future, aluminum barrel nut. My observations so far. Only time will tell with the smoke composites handguard in relation to possible delamination. Based on reviews they can take a beating. Both companies stand behind their products.
